    Quick Answers to Common Questions

Do I need to get vaccinated before visiting the Peruvian Amazon?

Vaccinations are not mandatory to enter Peru, but to ensure a safe and healthy trip to the Peruvian Amazon, some vaccinations are recommended, especially for areas below 2,300 meters (7,546 ft) in elevation. These might include yellow fever, typhoid, and Hepatitis A & B. It’s always best to consult with your doctor or a travel clinic at least 4-6 weeks before your trip to get personalized recommendations based on your health history and itinerary. They can also advise you on any medications you might need to bring, like anti-malarial prophylaxis.

Can I customize this package for a shorter or longer itinerary?

Absolutely! We understand that everyone travels at their own pace. While we offer some pre-designed itineraries, we’re happy to tailor them to fit your timeframe and interests. Whether you dream of a whirlwind Machu Picchu adventure or a more leisurely exploration of the Sacred Valley and Amazon rainforest, we can work with you to create the perfect Peruvian vacation. Just let us know your desired length of stay and any specific things you’d like to see and do, and our travel specialists will craft a dream itinerary just for you.

What kind of Machu Picchu train is included in the itinerary?

Our suggestion is to start with the Vistadome train, which is an intermediate level of train service with nice amenities, with panoramic windows for unobstructed scenery. Or, upgrade to the iconic Belmond Hiram Bingham train, a luxurious time capsule on rails, for an unforgettable experience. Be sure to check the specific details of your chosen package or speak with one of our travel specialists to see which train is included and if you have any upgrade options.
