Peru won four awards at the prestigious World Travel Awards Americas 2024 edition, which recognize our cultural richness, unparalleled gastronomy and impressive tourist attractions. Peru was awarded as “Leading Culinary Destination in South America”, “Leading Cultural Destination in South America” and “Leading Destination in South America”. Meanwhile, the wonder of the world, Machu Picchu, was chosen as “South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2024”
Peru will compete for four World Travel Awards World Travel Awards
After winning four awards at the prestigious World Travel Awards South America 2024, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Elizabeth Galdo, said that Peru will also compete to win in these four categories worldwide. The continental awards ceremony was held on July 1st and Peru was recognized as the best culinary destination, best cultural destination, leading destination in South America, and Machu Picchu was also recognized as the best attraction. In these same categories mentioned above, our country will compete again in the worldwide edition of the World Travel Awards to be held on November 24th in Portugal.
As Forbes mentions. – Culture trips remain popular; according to Tripadvisor’s most recent Seasonal Travel Index, one quarter (25%) of Americans plan cultural sightseeing trips in the coming months. There are two new entries to the top three Culture Destinations for 2024, with Cusco, Peru at No. 2 and Agra, India at No. 3. But it’s Cuba that takes the top spot, climbing five places from last year to be named No. 1.

Cusco as the best tourist destination, according to Travellers Choice 2024 awards. The historical capital of Peru stood out in two categories and as the best cultural and popular destination in tourism awards.
Cusco was recently recognized as the best cultural and popular destination in the “Best of the Best” Travellers Choice 2024 awards of the prestigious international virtual platform Tripadvisor.
The platform collected the opinion of millions of travelers around certain destinations or businesses in the tourism sector around the planet and according to Tripadvisor followers, Cusco is the winner for being ideal for activities such as guided archaeological visits, historical tours, hiking tours and for entertainment.
“Inca majesty and Andean baroque coexist in Cusco’s cobblestone streets, the most representative examples of which are the Qoricancha palace and the Santo Domingo church that flank the Plaza de Armas.
