Some tips about the country

Always make sure that you have the things that you need to make your trip the best it can be. Our advice is to make sure that you always have comfortable shoes, plenty of water, and sunscreen. And, of course, your camera! Peru has so many magnificent things happening, so think well about everything you want to do.

Check the weather

Peru contains an incredible variety of climates (30 out of 32 possible types, according to one classification) Within its borders, you will find dry desert, sandy coastal beach, chilly highlands, amazing culture, tropical rainforest and more.

Currency and security

The national currency is the sol.  The exchange rate is approximately 3.70 soles to 1 dollar.  The exchange rate is not very variable. As for security, except in Lima, the capital of the country and like all capitals, you should be careful with your belongings.  Try to go out in the street with a small purse or your money in your pockets.  The rest of the country is safer but always taking care

The best hotels

Over the years and due to the fame that Peru has acquired, one of the things that developed the most was the hotel sector.  For many years now, large international chains have been present in our country.  Starting with the super luxury chain Belmond with presence in Lima, Cusco city and Sacred Valley and Colca, Arequipa.  Continued by the Marriott chain with several hotels in Lima and Cusco as well as in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Followed by the Holiday Inn chain, Accor, Hilton, IHG, Radisson, Hyatt and several hotels owned by Peruvians that are also of high level.

Our tour operator, has agreements with almost all of them and at the best rates

Extraordinary cuisine

This is a very special topic and deserves to have a great mention. As Miguel Sanchez Aguayo says: Peruvian gastronomy is one of the most recognized worldwide, with a great diversity of typical dishes in the Coast, Highlands and Jungle. One of the things that most represents Peru worldwide is its exquisite and varied gastronomy. It’s great variety is mainly due to the Peruvian geography, the mixture of cultures, as well as the adaptation of millenary cultures to the style of modern cuisine.

Among just a few nominations we can mention:

2016: Best Culinary Destination in Latin America and 10 Best Culinary Destinations in the World.

2019: Peru – Best Culinary Destination in the World and 50 Best Restaurants in the World.

Just this year 2023, on June 20, Central Restaurant, owned by Peruvian chef Virgilio Martinez, was crowned Best Restaurant in the World. The recognition by the British Restaurant Magazine.  This among other Peruvian restaurants that ranked among the first in the ranking.

And all this is thanks to the multiple culinary styles, which were incorporated over the centuries and now result in a varied cuisine in form and content, with spicy, spicy, light or very acidic flavors.  The great takeoff of our cuisine was thanks to renowned chef Gaston Acurio who at the same time gave great value to the crops of the fields and their owners.
