Our Commitment to the Environment and the Inca Trail Regulations

At View South America, we believe that every journey is an opportunity to protect Peru’s natural and cultural heritage. That’s why we actively minimize our impact on the environment and strictly adhere to the Inca Trail regulations (RCI – Reglamento del Camino Inca).

How we protect the environment

  • Waste management with Eco Porters:
We assign a dedicated Eco Porter on each trek to oversee proper waste segregation according to the updated Peruvian guidelines (2024–2025). We use color-coded bags — green for recyclables, brown for organic waste, black for non-recyclables, and red for hazardous waste — and ensure everything is carried out of the trail.
  • Reducing single-use plastics:
We promote reusable bottles, lunch kits, and cloth bags across all our trips.
  • Protecting wildlife and native flora:
We guide travelers to stay on official paths, avoid disturbing wildlife, and never pick plants or flowers, preserving delicate ecosystems.
  • Supporting local communities:
By working with skilled local guides, porters, and suppliers, we contribute to the region’s sustainable development.

The traveler’s responsibility: respecting the Inca Trail regulations

As part of the official Inca Trail regulations, every traveler shares in protecting this sacred route. When you join one of our treks, you agree to:

Stay on marked trails to avoid damaging fragile vegetation and archaeological sites.
Carry out all waste, following our Eco Porter’s instructions on separating your trash.
Use designated campsites and facilities only.
Respect wildlife by not feeding or approaching animals.
Keep noise to a minimum, maintaining the serenity of this living heritage.

This collective effort ensures that the Inca Trail remains pristine for generations to come.

Why choose us for your Inca Trail adventure?

The Inca Trail regulations exist to protect one of the world’s most extraordinary trekking routes. At View South America, we meet — and often exceed — these standards, combining comfort with profound respect for nature, culture, and local communities.
