Experience Holy Week in Peru, which begins with Palm Sunday receiving a traditional blessing and ending with Easter Sunday. On Holy Monday, Cusco, holds a procession, with the locals carrying the patron, Lord of the Earthquakes (Señor de Los Temblores), from the Cathedral which is ornated with beautiful red flowers and is paraded in the center of the city, with the locals giving praise. Legend has it that the Señor de Los Temblores saved Cusco from the earthquake of 1950. All churches are open to the public with no entrance fee on Holy Thursday, legend has it if you visit 7 churches in Cusco your wish will be granted. Good Friday in Cusco is celebrated with feasting on the 12 traditional dishes to honor, Jesus`s last supper. The devotees in Cusco attend the procession in Plaza San Francisco, walking to Sacsayhuaman, a holy pilgrimage on Holy Friday. Easter Sunday is quieter with the people of Peru attending mass and walking around with their families and friends enjoying different types of pastries and foods.

Upon arrival in the Andean Inca City of Cusco (3350 mt.), our View Peru Representative will greet you and take you in private transport to your perfectly centered hotel. Explore the beautiful city of Cusco,at leisure visiting the Plaza de Armas, where you will immerse yourself in a religious cultural experience.
Holy Monday during Easter Week, is a very special day for the people of Cusco, Peru because legend has it that the Señor del Los Temblores (Lord of the Earthquakes) saved Cusco from the earthquake in 1950. On this day the Saint of Cusco, which is displayed in the Cathedral Church in the Plaza de Armas (main square), goes out in procession, with its devotees giving reverence and praise. A morning mass is given by the Archbishop of Cusco in honor of the Lord of the Earthquakes.
Our View Peru Representative, will meet you early in the morning at your hotel and set off from Cusco en route to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the PeruRail Expedition, or Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival at the Aguas Calientes train station, our professional guide will be waiting to take you to the bus stop to board the shuttle bus up to Machu Picchu, One of the Seven Wonders of the World and the most visited site in Peru. Now is the WOW moment you have waited all your life coming face to face with the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu! Discover the world of the Incas with your well-versed guide who will provide the theories behind this impressive citadel. Relish in its beauty and be inspired by the spirit of Machu Picchu that the Incas once frequented. Stroll by the many temples, corridors, Sun Temple and check out the carefully cut stones that were joined together, and not even a knife can penetrate it. The sheer genius of the Incas to have an out-of-this-world skill of building is mesmerizing.. After a fabulous time, exit the park with your guide and return to Aguas Calientes to have a delicious lunch. After lunch, board the train to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cusco, where our View Peru Representative will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
In the morning depart your hotel in Cusco with your guide and group or in private en route to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Enjoy the beautiful vistas of the precious Sacred Valley of Peru, surrounded by the impressive Andes Mountains. Continue to the Inca Pisac archeological site surrounded by many terraces built on the side of the hilltop, for a stroll on the top trail of the ruins to catch impressive views of the Sacred Valley, Sun Temple, and water channels below. Then continue to the colorful Pisac handicraft market to wander about the many stalls, where you can pick up some lovely souvenirs for your family and friends. Our next stop will be in Urubamba to relax and have a delicious Peruvian lunch. After lunch, we will drive to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo for a tour of the spectacular archeological site of many terraces, and temples, facing the town. Following a fantastic time, we proceed to the Andean Village of Chinchero for a visit to the ruins and to appreciate the surreal vistas of the fabulous landscapes. Return to Cusco around 7:00 pm.
On Holy Thursday, all the churches in Cusco have free admission, and legend has it that if you visit seven churches your wishes will be fulfilled.
Today we will set off from your hotel to start the historical, cultural tour of the Inca city of Cusco. Feel the ambiance in the air as you stroll on the cobblestone streets of this historical city of Peru. Marvel at the ancient city of Cusco with the perfect combination of Incan and Colonial architecture, as you walk to the Plaza de Armas (main square), for a tour of the Renaissance-style Cathedral built by the Spaniards on an Inca temple with the stones from Sacsayhuaman. Inside the lovely Cathedral, observe the colonial art, altars, and wood carvings. Continue to Qoricancha Sun Temple (The Golden Temple), built by the Incas dedicated to Inti (Sun god), which once had gold-plated walls but the Spanish conquistadors looted all of its gold and built their church and monuments on top of and around the structure creating the magnificent combination of Inca and Spanish architecture, seen today in Cusco. Next, we will take a short drive above Cusco for an eye-opening experience touring the massive Sacsayhuaman with its enormous boulders which reflect the ingenuity and power of the Incas. From here, visit the megalith temple of Qenko, which is believed to have been used for blood sacrifices offered to the gods, death rituals, and possibly to embalm Inca bodies in the underground tunnels. After an interesting experience we move on to Puka Puka the red fortress, and finally a visit to Tambomachay, the Inca baths. Thereafter, return to your hotel.
At the scheduled time, depart your hotel with your chef to start the delectable cooking class in Cusco. Our first visit will be to the bustling San Pedro Market, where you will see the locals shopping and going on with their everyday activities. Stroll through the large San Pedro Market, which sells fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, meats, plants, natural medicines, and other exotic products. After a fabulous experience, head to the kitchen to begin a tasty cooking class. The chef will instruct you on your hands-on cooking class preparing flavorful Peruvian Cuisine, using organic ingredients from the region of Cusco such as quinoa, potatoes, trout, and others. You will prepare a delicious appetizer, main course, and a refreshing Pisco sour. Now that you have prepared your first Peruvian dish you will sit and taste the exquisite flavors and toast to your accomplishment with the famous Pisco Sour. After a flavorful experience, transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure visiting museums or shopping in this gorgeous city of Cusco.
