Discover the alluring city of Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire, walking on cobbled stoned streets observing the amazing Incan, Colonial architecture, and visiting the impressive Sacsayhuaman and other archeological sites located above Cusco. Then tour the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas with its stunning landscapes and Inca archaeological sites of Chinchero, Maras, Moray, Pisac, and Ollantaytambo. Explore the iconic Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Uncover, the world of the Uros, Amantani, and Taquile people with a fabulous tour and homestay on Lake Titicaca. This is a terrific vacation for people who want to experience Peruvian history and culture.
Arrive in Lima, Peru, where our View Peru representative will be waiting to welcome you and escort you to the hotel of your choice. On our way, you will receive a briefing of your itinerary. Once you are settled in at your hotel enjoy your first day in Peru at leisure exploring fine restaurants to savor delicious Peruvian cuisine.
In the morning, if you spent the night at the Lima airport hotel then our View Peru Representative will walk you to the airport or transfer if you spent the night in Miraflores. Connect to your flight from Lima to Cusco. Upon your arrival at the Andean city of Cusco (3350 mt.), our representative will collect you and in private transport transfer to your hotel in the center of Cusco. You will receive a briefing on your upcoming tours in Peru. Relax and settle in your comfortable hotel, and have a delicious lunch before your tour. In the afternoon, our guide will meet you and walk to the Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas for a group tour. Visit the Gothic-Renaissance style Cathedral built on top of a sacred Inca temple using stones from Sacsayhuaman. Continue through the narrow streets to the Qoricancha Sun Temple, a marvelous shrine that was built with religious prophecies during the Inca apogee. Next, we continue with a short drive up above Cusco taking in the lovely scenery. Fix your eyes on the impressive Inca complex of Sacsayhuaman with its huge boulders and magnificent presence. As you cross its massive opening you are in awe with the gigantic stones affixed together so perfectly. Our professional guide will provide the many theories behind the Incan site, which was initially built by the Killke culture and was expanded by the Incas. Next, we will come upon another mysterious site, Qenqo which means labyrinth, which has subterranean passages in its interior. It is also believed this was a ceremonial place where the Incas used to possibly embalm their dead and make sacrifices. Thereafter, we will visit the Puka Pukara red fort and then tour the Tambomachay Incas Baths before returning to Cusco.
We depart Cusco making our way to the small Andean town of Chinchero (3762 mt.) to start discovering the world of the Incas. Chinchero was once a country resort to the Incas and was recognized for its very rich soil for farming. It is a lovely town with red earthly hues and spectacular landscapes of the mountains and plateau. Visit the ruins full of aqueducts and agricultural terraces said to have been built by Inca Tupac Yupanqui. Afterward, visit the lovely small colonial chapel and admire the beautiful colorful textiles unique to this region. Next, visit the stunning Maras salt mines to see the white salt ponds sprawled in between the mountains. If lucky you will see the locals gathering the salt by hand not using machinery. Our final visit takes us to extraordinary Moray circular terraces which look like deep bowl depressions on the earth resembling an immense amphitheater or something extraterrestrial. Nonetheless, It is thought the Incas used Moray as an agricultural laboratory. After a fascinating experience, we return to Cusco.
Today depart your hotel in Cusco with your guide and group en route to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Enjoy the beautiful vistas of the precious Sacred Valley of Peru, surrounded by the impressive Andes Mountains. Continue to the Inca Pisac archeological site surrounded by many terraces built on the side of the hilltop, for a stroll on the top trail of the ruins to catch impressive views of the Sacred Valley, Sun Temple, and water channels below. Then continue to the colorful Pisac handicraft market to wander about the many stalls, where you can pick up some lovely souvenirs for your family and friends. Our next stop will be in Urubamba to relax and have lunch. After lunch, we will drive to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo for a tour of the spectacular archeological site of many terraces facing the town. Following a fantastic time, board your train to Aguas Calientes, where you will be met by the hotel staff that will escort you to your hotel.
In the morning, our professional guide will walk you to the bus stop to board the shuttle bus up to Machu Picchu, One of the Seven Wonders of the World and the most visited site in Peru.
Now is the WOW moment you have waited all your life coming face to face with the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu! Discover the world of the Incas with your well-versed guide who will provide the theories behind this impressive citadel. Relish in its beauty and be inspired by the spirit of Machu Picchu that the Incas once frequented. Stroll by the many temples, corridors, Sun Temple and check out the carefully cut stones that were adjoined together, and not even a knife can penetrate it. The sheer genius of the Incas to have an out-of-this-world skill of building. After a fabulous time exit the park with your guide or if you booked Huayna Picchu, please proceed to the entrance to do your exciting hike to the top of the mountain to catch spectacular views. Return to town and have lunch on your own before boarding your train to the Ollantaytambo or Poroy station, where our View Peru Representative will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
This morning our View Peru Representative will escort you to the bus stop to board your comfortable shared tourist bus from Cusco to Puno. Journey through the dramatic scenery of the altiplano of Peru surrounded by the spectacular Andes Mountains. Our first stop will be to the lovely Andayhuallilas San Pedro Church said to be the Sistine Chapel of the Americas. Then continue to Raqchi, the Temple of Wiracocha, to see the imposing gigantic walls. Afterward, relax and have a Peruvian buffet lunch in Sicuani. Continue to La Raya the highest point between Cusco and Puno to see llamas and alpacas grazing in their natural habitat and the natural fauna. Our final visit will be to the Pukara museum to see many pre-Incan pottery pieces. Arrive in Puno around 5 pm, where our representative will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.
This morning we will depart the hotel, accompanied by our professional guide, to commence your Cultural experience visiting Lake Titicaca. Board the lancha and ride the still waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.
Our first visit takes us to the Uros floating islands, a masterpiece made by the inhabitants of Totora reeds. The Uros people are thought to be descendants of the first civilization that arrived at Lake Titicaca 3700 years ago. Also, studies have shown that the Uros people have distinct genetic differences in Peru and Bolivia. Delve into the world of the Uros learning of their way of life and taking a stroll around the island and snap many pictures. Optional pay directly: take a short ride on their boats made of Totora reeds. After a wonderful time, board your lancha and continue for about 3 hours to the island of Amantani, enjoying the incredible scenery of Lake Titicaca. Upon arrival at Amantani, our host family will welcome you with a big smile and walk you to their home where you will get comfortable in your room. Get acquainted and have a delicious home-cooked meal prepared by your host family. After a delicious meal, you can opt to play football with the locals or hike to the high point of Amantani to relax and watch the stunning sunset over Lake Titicaca. Thereafter, return to your homestay and share dinner with your lovely host family and share some stories. Following a wonderful dinner, your host family will dress you up in their traditional dress and walk to the community hall for a celebration with the locals of Amantani singing, listening to Andean music, and dancing with the locals. After a fantastic cultural immersion return to your homestay and relax.
This morning after breakfast with your friendly Amantani host family, say farewell and continue your journey to the island of Taquile taking in breathtaking views of the immense Lake Titicaca. Once we arrive climb up a hill to the town where you will meet the Taquile people to get an introduction into their daily life. The men are renowned for their weaving textiles which are beautifully designed and the best in Peru. Enjoy a delightful lunch with incredible views of Lake Titicaca that surrounds Taquile. After lunch, take a hike around the island until reaching your lancha. Following an immersive cultural experience, we head back to Puno and onto your hotel.
After a delicious breakfast, our professional guide will meet you in your hotel and depart to the airport in Juliaca. On the way, you will visit the Silustani, pre-Inca cemetery where you will see impressive tombs built to resemble tall towers called chullpas. built by the Qulla people which were conquered by the Incas in the 15th century. After a terrific time, arrive at the airport in Juliaca to check-in for your flight to Lima.
