Tour Details

Discover the Inti Raymi Festival, celebrated in Cusco, Peru, every year on June 24.
During the Inca Empire, the festival Inti Raymi was created by the Royal Inca, Pachacútec to celebrate the winter solstice of the southern hemisphere and the beginning of a new Inca year. The Incas celebrated for nine days by dancing, feasting, drinking chicha and performing animal sacrifices, giving thanks to Pachamama, and to ensure a good harvest.  Nowadays, Inti Raymi is celebrated only on June 24 in Cusco, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia.
