DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO CUSCO ON “PALM SUNDAY” (B)
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a View Peru representative whom will answer to all possible questions you may have on the way to your hotel. Once you are settle in your comfortable hotel room, then you will have the rest of the day to enjoy at your leisure and acclimatize to the high altitude of Cusco.
DAY 2: WITNESS THE PROCESSION OF LORD OF THE TEMBLORS (B, L)
Today after you have enjoyed your delicious breakfast, you will have some time to get ready until it is time for your guide to pick you up and together walk through the streets that will be full of faithful catholic pilgrims trying to reach the Lord of Temblors procession, your guide will explain every details related to this festivity and then you will move to a balcony restaurant to enjoy lunch and then to witness the wonderful events taking place in the plaza.
The rest of the evening is your to stroll the streets of the magical city of Cusco at your leisure.
DAY 3: SACRED VALLEY (B, L)
An early rise awaits us today after you have enjoyed an exquisite breakfast, your private transportation will take you right outside the city limits to the quaint town of Pisac where you won’t feel the effects of the altitude. In the local market you can buy some of the best baby alpaca products to keep yourself in a holiday mood. There are also various other hand crafted souvenirs you can get for your friends and family back home.
For lunch you’ll be treated to a locally sourced meal with fresh ingredients that will have you content as you journey towards the town of Ollantaymbo. Before entering the city, you’ll get to visit the ancient but well-preserved terrace system created by the Incans. At this point your guide will give you a detailed explanation of the ruins and their importance to the cultivation of crops.
Dinner will be served in an exclusive restaurant in Ollantaymbo where afterwards you’ll have time to wander the streets or treat yourself to a massage in your hotel’s in-house spa.
DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU (B, L)
To crown this amazing holiday is renewing your energy in the magical Machu Picchu, you will start your day with a filling breakfast and once you are ready a representative will meet you to accompanied you to take the bus ride up the windy road of Machu Picchu mountain, the entrance into the citadel will only be a few steps away where your private guide will be ready to assist you. As the tour commences, your guide will provide you with detailed explanations and information about the archeological site. Once the two-hour tour is completed, the time is yours to explore the various paths around the mountain.
The thousands of photos you have likely seen of Machu Picchu will not give it justice so take advantage of the various different viewpoints that you’ll have access to. The 30-minute hike to Huayna Picchu, the tall mountain in the background, is well worth it and is much less crowded also or a panoramic view you can walk up Machu Picchu mountain itself to enjoy the beautiful bird’s eye view (Note that these paths have an extra cost and require a consultation with a travel expert to check availability).
Once you have finish this wonderful adventure is time to head down to Aguas Calientes by bus before boarding the train that will take you back to Cusco. The rest of the day will be of leisure for you to explore the nooks and crannies of the former capital of the Incan Empire.
DAY 5: NEARBY RUINS & CULINARY EXPERIENCE GOOD THURSDAY (B, D)
Once you have finished breakfast, you will be picked to start tour with our tour through nearby ruins will start as we head towards the impressive Inca complex of Sacsayhuaman. As you cross its massive opening that will leave in awe, your guide will explain that this site was built for the Incas using rocks weighing up to 180 tons and that they manage to fitted them perfectly. The next stop is another mysterious site named Qenqo which means labyrinth. This site is a very interesting as is a rocky construction that is hides subterranean passages in its interior, this was also a ceremonial place where the Incas used to possibly embalm their death. Our last stops will be visiting Tambomachay and Puka Pukara lookout point. When the tour has finished we will drive you back to your hotel.
By the evening, you will be escorted to the most fun experience as you join a small and intimate cooking class, along a team of chefs you will have a great opportunity to improve your cuisine skills as you cook delicious Peruvian plates considering Easter tradition to only eat seafood on good Thursday, all this while learning the gastronomy of the country, and while you enjoy refreshing Pisco Sours as well.
You will dine your delicious dishes, and when you have finish with the activity your View Peru representative will escort you back to your hotel.
DAY 6: FROM THE HIGHLANDS TO THE COAST GOOD FRIDAY (B, D)
After you have finished your delicious breakfast, you will be transfer to the airport to flight to Lima. Once there a View Peru representative will be awaiting to greet you at the airport, from where you will be transfer in a comfortable ride to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is for you to enjoy at your leisure of the city of kings.
By the evening, you will be taken to enjoy a fantastic farewell dinner and when you have finish you will be transfer to your hotel.
DAY 7: FAREWELL LIMA
After a final gourmet breakfast, our journey has finally ended. According to your schedule, a View Peru representative will be ready to take you to Lima airport for your return flight home.
