DAY 1: LIMA ARRIVAL – 22nd (D)

After touching down in Lima’s airport, get yourself settled while our guide kindly leads you to your private transportation. From here you can relax as our View Peru representative gives you a brief review of your itinerary and answers any questions you may have on the way to your lush hotel.

The rest of the day is yours to do as you please. After having explored the city for a bit you’ll be taken to dinner to taste the finest Peruvian gastronomy available. A quick transfer back to your hotel will then let you get a good night’s rest.

Fully rested and ready to head out on your second day, your guide will lead you to the airport so you can catch a short flight to the international city of Cusco. From there your transportation will take you right outside the city limits to the quaint town of Pisac where you won’t feel the effects of the altitude. In the market you can buy some of the highest quality baby alpaca products which will help keep you nice and cozy for your holiday adventure. There are also various other hand crafted souvenirs you can get for your friends and family back home.

For lunch you’ll be treated to a locally sourced meal with fresh ingredients that will have you content as you journey towards the town of Ollantaymbo. Before entering the city, you’ll get to visit the ancient but well-preserved terrace system created by the Incans. At this point your guide will give you a detailed explanation of the ruins and their importance to the cultivation of crops.

Dinner will be served in an exclusive restaurant in Ollantaymbo where afterwards you’ll have time to wander the streets or treat yourself to a massage in your hotel’s in-house spa.

After an impeccable breakfast, you’ll set out to enjoy Christmas Eve with a peaceful day of horseback riding. Once paired with your four hooved companion, you’ll calmly trot towards the natural salt mines where you can try the delicious local chocolate. Sweet tooth satisfied, your next stop is the church of San Francisco de Asís. Awaiting your arrival is a scenic picnic lunch with an amazing view of snowcapped mountains in the distance.

Once you’ve finished eating, you and your horse will pass through the streets of Maras to view antiquely sculpted Spanish architecture. Continuing on, your final stop of the day are the ruins of Moray. Originally used for agriculture, these circular terraces will give you an idea of how the Incans used to cultivate their food. Concluding the day by returning to the ranch, private transportation will take you back to your hotel where the you can get nestled in and prepared for Christmas morning.

DAY 4: MACHU PICCHU – Christmas 25th (B, L, D)

What better day to arrive in Machu Picchu than on Christmas Day itself? After an early breakfast and quick transfer back to Ollantaymbo, you will take an exclusive wagon ride through the countryside of the Sacred Valley. Throughout the ride the scenery will begin to transform into a lush, humid jungle. After reaching the mystical town of Aguas Calientes, a View Peru representative will escort you to the bus station and retrieve your luggage. Following the bus ride up the windy road of Machu Picchu mountain, the entrance into the citadel will only be a few steps away where your private guide will be ready to assist you. As the tour commences, your guide will provide you with detailed explanations and information about the archeological site. Once the two-hour tour is completed, the time is yours to explore the various paths around the mountain.

The thousands of photos you’ve likely seen of Machu Picchu will not give it justice so take advantage of the various different viewpoints that you’ll have access to. The 30-minute hike to Huayna Picchu, the tall mountain in the background, is well worth it and is much less crowded. For a panoramic view you can walk up Machu Picchu mountain itself to enjoy the beautiful bird’s eye view. Note that these paths may cost extra and require a consultation with a travel expert to check availability.
After soaking in the experience you can leave at your own leisure to the private Sanctuary Lodge where your Christmas feast is being prepared.

ollowing Machu Picchu, you’ll start your day with a filling breakfast before your train takes you back to Cusco. As easy as Sunday morning, today will be a day of leisure for you to explore the nooks and crannies of the former capital of the Incan Empire. A pristine dinner will have you feeling ready to conquer the world as you settle into your spacious but homey hotel.

Christmas may now be over, but that doesn’t mean you have to put up the decorations just yet. After a quick breakfast at your hotel, private transportation will pick you up at 5am to start the 3-hour drive to Vinicunca. While passing through a handful of antique Andean villages, your guide will teach you about the local wildlife and fauna. You’ll take a quick break in the Pampachiri community for you to buy any last minute snacks or drinks. If necessary, you can ask for walking sticks in advance to ensure yourself an easier walk.

Upon arrival you will finally see, Rainbow Mountain, the latest natural phenomenon caused by global warming. Accompanied by your guide, you can opt to hike to the top or take a horse depending on how the altitude affects you.

Once finished taking scenic photos and enjoying the colorful mountainside, you will head back to Pampachiri for a gourmet lunch in a secluded area. Private transportation will then take you back to Cusco where you’ll arrive at approximately 6:30pm.

Shifting gears from Christmas to New Year’s, a guide will arrive at your hotel after an excellent breakfast to show you the city. From the Main Square to the San Francisco Convent, no stone will be left unturned. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to view San Pedro Market, a busy, cheerful market with tons of different stalls and kiosks to choose from.

By evening it will be time to begin your Bar Crawl. Including 3 of the most spectacular restaurants in Cusco, it’s here where you’ll be exposed to the vibrant history of Pisco. Your night will end with a special farewell dinner after having tried the best crafted cocktails available.
