Itinerary

Day 1WELCOME TO LIMA!

Arrive in Lima, where our View Peru representative will be waiting to welcome you and escort you to the hotel of your choice. On the way, you will receive a briefing of your itinerary. Once you are settled in at your hotel enjoy your first day in Peru at leisure and have a delicious dinner in one of Lima`s finest restaurants. 

Day 2LIMA EXQUISITE GOURMET TOUR (B, L)

This morning after a lovely breakfast, the chef will greet and meet you at your hotel to start the tasty gourmet tour in private transport.
Visit Barranco the bohemian art district, sip some aromatic organic Peruvian coffee in a lovely cafe. Then visit the local market where you will see the vendors and locals engage in everyday life and taste some exotic fruits. Admire amazing views of Miraflores facing the Pacific Ocean, taste exclusive selections of Peru’s cuisine and toast the famous Pisco Sour, and visit multiple neighborhoods. Finally, savor an exquisite lunch at the Huaca Pucllana Restaurant amidst the pre-Incan ruins.  After an incredible time exploring the gastronomic scene in Lima, return to your hotel. The rest of the day at leisure to wander around the cosmopolitan city.

Day 3LIMA - CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY (B, L)

After a delicious breakfast, our representative will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the Lima airport for your flight to Cusco.  At the Cusco airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our friendly View Peru Representative, that will introduce you to our professional guide.  Take a scenic drive to the rich Sacred Valley with its picturesque landscapes. Stop at the Awanacancha Llama Farm to see the lovely camelids of llamas and alpacas.  Go forward passing the town of Pisac and up the hill to the ruins with the same name, surrounded by terraces and spectacular vistas. Then, an optional visit to the Pisac market or continue to Urubamba to enjoy a delectable Peruvian lunch. After a delightful lunch, we will leave you at your hotel to relax in comfort surrounded by the Andes Mountains in nature.

Day 4MARAS SALT FLATS - MORAY - OLLANTAYTAMBO (B, L)

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel, and thereafter depart with our guide towards the Maras Salt Flats.  Take pleasure in a wonderful vision laid out in front of you and see how the salt is gathered by hand without using machinery.  Then a scenic drive to the Moray circular terraces amidst the Andes Mountains, where you will catch incredible views of the bowl-like circular terraces which are believed to have been used as an agricultural laboratory by the Incas.  Now that we have built up an appetite it is time to savor a delightful lunch in a fine restaurant in Urubamba. Following lunch, we continue to the Inca Town of Ollantayambo. with its stunning terraces, a ceremonial center that sits atop the terraces, royal chamber, and other temples.  Stroll around the city and observe the Inca design still present today.  After a fabulous day, we will leave you at your hotel so you can relax.

 

Day 5CUSCO – KM 82 – WAYLLABAMBA (L, D)

The excitement begins today after a delicious breakfast in your hotel.  Board your private transport with your guide and drive to Km 82, and on route make a short stop in the town of Ollantaytambo to pick up some last-minute items and to use the restroom. We continue our drive for a couple of hours until reaching Km 82, Piscacucho (2675 mts/8776.3 ft), where we will meet our porters and support staff, with all the camping equipment. They will finalize all the details to ensure that everything is ready to deliver a most memorable experience.  The luxurious Inca trail begins with us walking through many archaeological sites, observing the lush vegetation, flora, and fauna, spotting birds, and learning of these wonders.  After 4 hours of hiking, we arrive at Tarayoc (2675 mts/8776.3 ft) to relax and enjoy a delightful lunch to re-energize.  Next, we will walk for another 2 hours towards the village of Wayllabamba (2970 mts/9744.1 ft), our first luxury campsite. Here we will unwind by taking a well-needed hot shower to soak our muscles and then relax your body and mind with a soothing professional massage using organic aromatic essential oils.  Then feed your palette with fresh ingredients from the region prepared by our chef and served by your personal waiter in the dining tent.  After a delectable gourmet meal, its time to sleep in your warm, comfortable bedroom tent under the twinkling stars.

•    Arrival to the campsite: 16:30 pm
•    Minimum altitude: Km 82 – 2675 masl/ 8776.3 ft.
•    Maximum altitude: Wayllabamba campsite – 2970 masl/9744.1 ft.
•    Distance covered: 11 kms/6.8 mls (6 hours walking approx.)
•    Difficulty: Moderate.
•    Meals included: Snacks, lunch, tea time and dinner.

Day 6YUNCACHIMPA – WARMIHUAÑUSCA PASS – PACAYMAYU (B, L, D)

After our early and hearty breakfast, we will commence our 1.5 hours hike towards the Ravine of Ayapata (3328 mts/10918.7 ft). We will climb over the ravine and suddenly be walking in the middle of a forest with a stream of crystalline waters alongside the road. Following another 3 hours and resting periodically, we will reach our lunch spot to catch our breath and relax at Llulluchapampa (3760 mts/12335.9). Here we will have an exquisite picnic lunch while appreciating the surrounding spectacular views of the flora, fauna in the warm Cloud Forest.  From here you will also catch a glimpse of the Warmiwañusca Pass (Dead Woman`s Path), which awaits us.  After an energizing lunch, we will keep walking up for another 2.5 hours catching our breath, until we reach Warmiwañusca Pass ( 4215 mts/13828.7 ft.) to celebrate your triumphant climb taking in views of serene landscapes. After, a short break we start our steep descent for about 2 hours to the Pacaymayo ravine and then on to our Pacaymayo campsite (3500 mts/11482.9 ft). Wow, the most difficult part of the Inca Trail is finally concluded! Now it`s time for a hot shower and a well-deserved massage to ease our sore muscles. Then enjoy a divine dinner prepared by our chef before tucking in your bedroom tent to sleep soundly in nature.

•    Arrival at the campsite: 17:00 pm
•    Minimum altitude: Ayapata site – 3328 masl/ 10918.7 ft.
•    Maximum altitude: Warmiwañusca Pass – 4215 masl/13828.7 ft.
•    Distance covered: 9 kms/5.6 MLS (9 hours walking approx.)
•    Difficulty: Challenging.
•    Meals included: Breakfast, snacks, lunch, tea time, and dinner.

Day 7CHAQUICOCHA – PHUYUPATAMARCA (B, L, D)

Now that you are energized, it`s time for a unique experience, participating in a yoga session of 30 to 40 minutes, led by our expert therapist, by the tranquil ravine and imposing mountains. After building up your energy and enthusiasm, indulge in a pleasant hot shower.  Enjoy a delicious breakfast to boost you up for the 1-hour hike through the paved and well-maintained slope to the ruins of Runkurakay, an ancestral Inca structure with a circular shape located at the edge of the mountain.  After about an hour, we will reach the second pass of Runkurakay (3955 mts/12975.7 ft), where we will catch our breath and observe spectacular views.  We will descend gradually passing a meandering seaweed-covered lake, where you can take some lovely pictures.  Up ahead the trail narrows and zigzags until we reach the archeological site of  Sayacmarca (3585 mts/11761.8 ft), to explore briefly.  We continue our descent for another hour to Chaquicocha (3535 mts/11597.8 ft), where our staff will be waiting with a sumptuous gourmet lunch.  After an exquisite lunch, we will hike for another 2.5 hours through an incredibly well-preserved path to Phuyupatamarca Pass (3640 mts/11942.3 ft), traversing a small tunnel made of stone to catch astounding views of the valleys and mountains, meters above our next campsite of Phuyupatamarca (3670 mts/12040.7 ft). Finally, we will arrive at our campsite to spend our last night enjoying the great services provided throughout the Inca Trail by View Peru`s highly skilled staff.  Take an afternoon hot shower and the last rejuvenating massage before dinner.  Enjoy a fabulous dinner cooked by your very own personal chef and served in the dining tent. Since this is the last night with the crew it`s time to share time and toast a drink with them, thanking them for their outstanding and quality services rendered during the Inca Trail, making it a memorable experience for you. Day 8WIÑAYHUAYNA – MACHU PICCHU –CUSCO (B, L, D)

We hope you had a blissful time during the Inca Trail under the care of our professional and friendly staff.  Enjoy a very early breakfast at 4:30 am to get you ready for the final oomph, hiking to Machu Picchu.  Walk for about 3 hours to the Wiñaywayna archaeological site (2650 mts/8694.2 ft), meaning  Forever young.  Keep moving up steep steps for about 1.5 hours until reaching Sun Gate or Intipunku (2750 mts/9022.3 ft), where we get rewarded with the first amazing sight of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Appreciate the breathtaking views and snap a few photos before continuing down for an hour to the marvelous Machu Picchu.  Wow, a dream come true as you come face to face with the magnificent citadel, Machu Picchu (2430 mts/7972.4 ft)!  Discover this marvel of the world with your guide as he provides the different hypotheses behind Machu Picchu, not the real name of this site.  Walk by the many temples, corridors, and more admiring the genius building of the Incas.  After, a mesmerizing experience you will have the option of climbing Huayna Picchu if you are up to it, or exit the park with your guide.  Celebrate a great accomplishment by having a succulent lunch a la carte at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge Restaurant.  Next, we will take the shuttle bus down to Aguas Calientes and board the Hiram Bingham Luxury Train to the Poroy station enjoying a gourmet dinner, live show and drink on board.  Upon your arrival at the Poroy station, our View Peru Representative will greet you and take you to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 9CUSCO CITY TOUR (B, L)

Following a delicious breakfast, our guide will meet you at your hotel to start a wonderful tour of the city of Cusco, Sacsayhuaman + Qenqo. 
The first stop will be at the Qoricancha Sun Temple, a marvelous shrine that was built with religious prophecies during the Inca apogee. Following the tour, we will visit the Plaza de Armas of Cusco (the main square), where our guide will be intensifying the information about the construction and history behind the Cathedral and its beautiful architecture. Our next visit takes us to the well-known San Pedro Market to get a taste of culture and maybe try an enticing fruit juice or eat an exotic fruit.  We continue with a short drive up above Cusco taking in lovely scenery. Fix your eyes on the impressive Inca complex of Sacsayhuaman with its huge boulders and magnificent presence.  As you cross its massive opening you are in awe with the gigantic stones affixed together so perfectly. Our professional guide will provide the many theories behind the Incan site. Next, we will come upon another mysterious site, Qenqo which means labyrinth, which has subterranean passages in its interior. It is also believed this was a ceremonial place where the Incas used to possibly embalm their dead and make sacrifices.  Thereafter, we will return to Cusco to relax and enjoy a divine lunch in one of the finest restaurants in Cusco.  After lunch, you will have the rest of the afternoon at your leisure.

Day 10CUSCO – PUNO (B, L)

After a lovely breakfast, our View Peru Representative will escort you to the Wanchaq train station in Cusco, to board the luxury train to Puno.  Travel through amazing landscapes as you cross the altiplano, stopping at La Raya, the highest point between Cusco and Puno.  Enjoy lunch and drinks on board while you admire the llamas and alpacas grazing in their natural habitat. True enjoyment throughout this wonderful journey. Arrive in Puno, where our representative will greet you and take you to your hotel.
NOTE:
Titicaca Train from Cusco to Puno only operates on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday (If your dates don`t fit this schedule then you can choose to fly or do the Sun Route by private transportation.)

Day 11ADVENTURE KAYAKING IN LAKE TITICACA (B, L)

Following a delicious breakfast, our guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to the port, where you will receive your equipment, gear, instructions, and safety tips for your kayaking adventure.
Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world straddling the borders of Peru and Bolivia located in the Andes Mountains.
Kayak on the pristine brisk waters of Lake Titicaca, while observing beautiful scenery, and as you go deeper into the lake observe spectacular vistas of the snow-capped mountains of Bolivia.  After an exhilarating time, we will start the final part of our tour by visiting Uros.  The ancient Uros people will welcome you to their island and explain their way of life and how they build their islands, boats, etc. from the Totora reeds found abundantly around the lake.  After a wonderful cultural experience, return to Puno and on to your hotel.

 

Day 12PUNO - SILUSTANI - JULIACA AIRPORT (B)

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel, before departing Puno with our View Peru Representative to the Juliaca airport to take your flight to Lima.. En route to the airport, we will stop at the Silustani pre-Incan Cemetery, located at the shores of Umayo. Be amazed by the tombs that were built as towers called chullpas, which were constructed by the Qulla people who are Aymara and were conquered by the Incas in the 15th century.  Arrive at the airport and connect to your flight to Lima.
